LifeChoices Family Medical, a DBA of LifeChoices Women’s Care, Inc., is a nonprofit 501c3 organized solely for the general religious, charitable and educational purposes pursuant to the Florida Corporations Not for Profit Law set forth in Section 617 of the Florida Statutes.

We were founded in 2009 that was birthed from a pregnancy resource center called the Lutz – Land O Lakes Pregnancy Center. It began as a joint effort between churches in Northern Hillsborough and Central Pasco Counties.

In early Spring of 2010, Ana Hidalgo Stooks became the founding Executive Director providing leadership and direction for the ministry.

By 2012, the pregnancy resource center had changed its name to LifeChoices Women’s Care, Inc., began offering limited OB ultrasound and had grown in patient visits requiring a larger facility.

In 2015, the organization expanded the scope of our services, so we began the journey of becoming a women’s healthcare clinic. We secured our current location with over 4,700 square feet and filed a Doing Business As (DBA) in the name of Guiding Star Tampa. In 2016 we hired an Assistant Executive Director Jill Casciello to lead our medical expansion and Tammara Taylor, our first advanced practice nurse practitioner/midwife and started providing medical care.

In 2017 we secured our Agency of Healthcare Administration (AHCA) license. In this same year we became a certified Pro Women’s Health Care Clinic (PWHC). In this consortium we are able to collaborate with other medical practices across the United States that provide natural, holistic women’s healthcare.

In 2019 we hired an additional women’s health nurse practitioner, Angela Bumpus, APRN.

In 2020 we expanded our scope to include family practice by hiring a family practice physician, Dr. Mariana Girón. Our tagline expanded to read: “Healthcare that Upholds the Dignity of the Human Person.”

In 2021 we changed our name to LifeChoices Family Medical to better define who we are and the services we provide. In July 2021 we brought on our second family practice physician, Dr. Jonathan Keenan.

In 2024 we hired our first family medicine nurse practitioner, Kayla Drapala, APRN and brought on Vanessa Acevedo as our Clinic Director.

We serve in the health ministry of the Roman Catholic Church and carry out its mission. The philosophy of the corporation mirrors the philosophy of the official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services, as approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
